The strongest growth in the world in Toronto

The prices of hotels in the main cities of Italy have slightly increased compared to 2016, these are the results of the annual study of HRS which analyzed the average room price in over 150 destinations worldwide.

The average price of Italian hotels in the year 2017 was € 93 (+ 2.2% compared to the previous year) per room per night. Venice remains the most expensive Italian city with 139 euros per stay, a slightly higher price than the average of 136 euros last year. Costs on the rise also in the rest of Europe where the most exclusive cities remain London and Zurich with an average of 177 euros. Globally, New York is at the top of the hotel price list: one night in the Big Apple costs an average of 250 euros

Italy: slight increase in prices up to an average of 93 euros per night

Prices overnight in most Italian cities are growing between 0.9% and 8% compared to the previous year, except Verona (-1.0%) and Caserta (-2.4%). The most significant increases are recorded in the cities of Mestre, which go from an average 88 to 95 euros per night (+ 8.0%), Naples from 89 to 86 euros (+ 7.9%) and Turin (+ 5.3 %). 3.9% increases also in the capital which comes at an average price of 106 euros. The city of the lagoon is confirmed the one with the highest prices (139 euros), immediately followed by Milan (116 euros) and Florence (106 euros). Varese, despite recording a 2.6% price increase, is still a cheaper city where it is possible to stay at an average price of 79 euros

Europe: hotel prices in major cities increase by about 5%

Interest in the English capital does not seem to decrease: with 177 euros per night (+2.9%), London has reached the prices of Zurich (+ 1.7%). However, the highest increase in hotel prices was recorded in Prague which, with a + 12%, reached an average of 84 euros per night. The cities of Moscow (+ 10.3% – 96 euros) and Madrid (+ 10.1% – 109 euros) also recorded double-digit growth. The cheapest European metropolis, on the other hand, remains Istanbul at 78 euros, but compared to 2016 it recorded a significant growth of 4.0%. The only city with prices going down is Oslo that goes from an average of 170 euros to 165 euros per night (-2.9%).

World: in Toronto hotel prices have risen of 30.6%

New York offset the price decline in 2016 and now reaches an average of 250 euros (+ 4.2%) per night at the hotel. Washington follows with 230 euros (+ 5.5%) in second place. The highest price increase was found in Toronto, with an increase of 30.6% with an average price of 158 euros – the reason could be the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the independence of Canada, which was celebrated in Toronto during the entire year.

Prices in sharp decline in Seoul (- 25.1%), Kuala Lumpur (-20.3) and Rio de Janeiro (-19.8%).

Analysis: All reservations not canceled from 01/01/2017 as of 31/12/2017 through the HRS portal. The selection includes both single and double rooms with and without breakfast in facilities from 1 to 5 stars.
